Summertime Picture of Our House

Here's a shot of the exterior of our house. This was taken today at about 3:30 in the afternoon. Note the sun is on the bottoms of the windows. We may opt for some type of awning to keep the August sun out of our living room.

Or how about some lovely Italian linen curtains/draperies? They add a very serene touch to a room and keep out the direct sun while adding a luminesence (I know I killed that spelling) to the room. Top of window to floor, very nice look. Just a suggestion. Does your house sit on a cliff?

Having no taste at all for decor, I can only suggest that a shade on the outside would offer better cooling than a curtain or drapery on the inside. A roll-up shade hung from cup hooks at the gutter line would only need to be about two feet high to shade the bottom of your window, and you'd still be able to see the view. Then you could take it down for the winter and let the sun add heat to the living room.

Great ideas guys. Thanks!
The house is not on a cliff, but is on the peak between two steep slopes.
I keep telling Heidi, a few grapes around the house and we'd feel like we're living on Capri. ;-)
