This morning the boys and I did some exploring and I took the camera along. You can see the results at:

The first picture in the album is Roadrunner, our Araucanian rooster.
Then there's a picture of the boys when they weren't hiding in the ferns.
After those, there are butterfly, spider, large spider nest stuck to bracken fern, a flower and some slugs.

I especially like the one of the beetles, the colors and the composition of that one is cool.
The one of the boys walking through the ferns could be a poster for enjoying nature or something. The smiles on their faces are natural and good.
Awesome pictures! I love the bird, and the one with the boys in the ferns -- actually they are all amazing. Thanks for the lift.
Cool! I have never seen a Black-and-Yellow Argiope spider, but I believe that is what you found. The book says the female spins a typical spiral web, then the male puts a white zig zag vertically across the center of it. Their photos show a longer body with alternating colors in the legs. Do you have any more photos, or one with enough resolution that we can blow it up and see the hairs on the spider's legs?
